My name is Mike, and I recently retired after a 47-year career in media, marketing, research, training, and coaching. There were many innovations and disruptions over those 4+ decades, but one thing never changed: The importance of storytelling.
My years in Radio taught me how to tell a story in a way that it could elicit a visual image; “theatre of the mind.” The right word story can create a picture in the mind of a consumer… without the cost of the equipment, film crew, and actors that would be required to create the literal image.
My work in print, digital, and television taught me the value of a perfectly placed image. The look on someone’s face can project a mood and theme instantly… leaving more time to focus on a value proposition.
Yes, a picture is worth a thousand words. But the right set of words can draw someone into a picture that does not exist in the real world. There is no point in arguing which matters most. They both matter.
